Message no... double welding makes them more brittle because of the chromium precipitation of stainless steel. SS321 was 'invented' because of this - it combats the chromium carbide formation from excess welding (heat and heat affected zone). Greg's pipes are welded on the inside then ground smooth to ensure good flow, i.e. non-turbulant.

From a previous post by me (yes, copied and pasted):
The SS321, especially, and SS347, have additives of titanium and columbium, respectively, to stabilize the carbide formation at elevated temps since they have a higher affinity for carbon than does the chromium. 321 is usually the material of choice over 347 simply b/c of availability, and to echo your comments, these are the materials of choice for headers. SS304 is good, but it does not have the high temperature fatigue resistance that 321 has.

BTW, the ebay/RVM pipes are SS304..I DID learn that last time.. :)
